The name “Jeep” is synonymous with rugged performance and quality. In particular, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has long been recognized as the performance leader for SUVs and has set the standard for the sports utility sector for decades.
If you were ever tempted to worry that the Grand Cherokee was about to lose its place as the standard for how an SUV should be, then Jeep recently announced a piece of news that should put your mind at ease.\
That news, of course, was the introduction of the HP 707 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk at the New York Auto Show, which Jeep has announced is the fastest SUV ever. Here’s our Chrysler dealership team’s take on this exciting news.
Introducing the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
So, is the 707 HP Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk the fastest SUV ever? This is a pretty bold claim, and one that skeptics are likely to quibble over. Thankfully, for Jeep, the evidence it has presented so far seems pretty unimpeachable.
According to Jeep/Chrysler, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk can go from 0-60 in an astonishing 3.5 seconds—a faster rate of acceleration than any other SUV on record. For SUV drivers who love vehicles with speed and power, the Trackhawk is sure to be a favorite once it hits dealerships.
How does the 707 HP Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk manage such an incredible feat? There’s a pretty big clue in the vehicle’s name: According to Jeep, the Trackhawk’s powerful engine has a rating of 707 horsepower. The Trackhawk’s engine is based on the Hellcat engine, which Dodge introduced with the release of its Challenger and Challenger Hellcat sports car models a few years ago.
Jeep’s development team has spent the last few years figuring out how to make the insanely powerful Hellcat engine work for an all-wheel drive SUV framework. Now that they’ve figured it out, the results are impressive, indeed: a sturdy Jeep Grand Cherokee with the undiluted power of a sports car roaring under its hood.
Other details about the 707 HP Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk haven’t yet been released, but Jeep did promise that there are more features yet to be released for customers to get excited about. According to the company’s statement at the New York Auto Show:
“The new Grand Cherokee Trackhawk delivers astounding performance numbers, backed by renowned SRT engineering that combines world-class on-road driving dynamics with luxury, refinement and an array of innovative advanced technology.”
Of course, anyone who has been feeling isolated in an auto industry increasingly focused on eco-friendly initiatives over good old-fashioned power and performance probably doesn’t need much more incentive to get excited for the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.
If that sounds like you, then you should make time in your schedule for a visit to your local Community Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Martinsville dealer next year; the HP 707 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is set for release in 2018.
